Katherine Carlton - Chair

Katherine was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. She graduated from N.C. State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications and currently works at Investors Management Corporation. She has been an active member of the Friends of WakeMed since its inception. In addition to being the Chair of the Friends of WakeMed, Katherine serves on the SAFEchild Young Ambassadors board, which aims to support SAFEchild's mission of eliminating child abuse in Wake County.  She enjoys working with great people for great causes in our community. 


John Paul Godwin - Stewardship Chair 


John Paul grew up in Dunn, NC and attended college at The University of North Carolina at Wilmington and then law school at Campbell University. John Paul is an attorney with the law firm of Hardison & Cochran PLLC in Raleigh. In addition to his involvement with Friends of WakeMed, John Paul is actively involved with his church and also with the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Network where he is chair of the Community Involvement Task Force.


Liz McLean - Stewardship Vice Chair

Liz, a Raleigh native, is a Sales and Business Development Associate with CBI | Workplace Solutions. As the daughter of a nurse, she witnesses first hand the service, commitment, and compassion WakeMed extends into the community. When Liz went to Kindergarten, her mom went to Nursing School; and over an almost 25 year period she has witnessed the hospital grow to be one of the nation's leaders in healthcare.  WakeMed is more than just the place where her mom works, it's a community of people dedicated to making this community the best in can be. In addition to her work with the Friends, Liz is active in other local based non-profit organizations, loves live music and Raleigh's every growing food scene.


Ashley Stallings - Engagement Chair


Ashley, a native of Eastern North Carolina, is a graduate of Meredith College where she received a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Ethics and the Public Interest. Ashley currently holds the position as the Events and Community Relations Manager for Midtown Events, a division of Kane Realty Corporation. In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with friends, family and her sweet pup Finley. In addition to the Friends of WakeMed, Ashley is actively involved with the Wake County Boys & Girls Clubs and enjoys any opportunity that allows her to meet new people and give back to the community.


Amy Haliko - Engagement Vice Chair


My name is Amy and I have worked for WakeMed since 2001. I have three puppies that keep me very busy! I am expecting my first human puppy in May 2018. If I am not at work or loving on my pups, I am probably outside camping or hiking!


Mariam Ahmed- Fundraising Chair- Kick it 4 Kids 

Mariam grew up in Florida and attended college at the University of South Florida.  She then moved to Washington D.C to pursue a Masters of Health Administration at George Washington University and is now working for the Kaizen Promotion Office at WakeMed Health and Hospitals. Mariam has been a member of Friends of WakeMed since 2015.


Jacob Godwin - Fundraising Vice Chair- Kick it 4 Kids

Jacob Godwin is a Marketing and Communications specialist at Sumitomo Electric Lightwave in Raleigh, NC. Jacob serves on various community boards including Harnett Regional Theatre in Dunn, and the Miss North Carolina Scholarship Organization – a preliminary to Miss America. He also serves in leadership roles for various community events including the North Carolina Cotton Festival and the Raleigh Christmas Parade as the TV producer in 2017. Jacob is excited to join the FOWM leadership and looks forward to continuing the mission of the WakeMed Foundation.


Cody Williams - Fundraising Chair- Cheers 4 Children

Cody is the VP of Sales & Marketing at The Roberts Group, a promotional product, apparel and print distributor. Native to Western North Carolina, Cody moved to Raleigh to attend NC State University, where he graduated from in 2007. Along with Friends of WakeMed, Cody is an active Rotarian and involved with several other organizations in the Triangle. He enjoys exploring new places with his wife, Kaitlin, and playing with their dogs, Molly and Lily.


Alexandra Carlson - Fundraising Vice Chair- Cheers 4 Children

Alexandra is a Raleigh native. She graduated from N.C. State’s School of Texiles in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Brand Management and Marketing. She currently works as a manager at Charlotte’s, a gift and clothing boutique in Raleigh’s Cameron Village. She became a member of Friends of WakeMed in 2017 and is excited to join the leadership team this year. Alexandra loves ACC basketball and her favorite place to be is at the beach!
